PRE-SCHOOL AND KINDER
Our Pre-School and Kinder students are taught under one roof, which we call The Children’s House. Based on the Montessori principle of the “absorbent mind,” the teachers assist the interaction between child and environment through carefully chosen and personalized activities. This interaction includes socializing with other 2.5 to six-year old children in The Children’s House, learning concepts like ORDER, COORDINATED MOVEMENT, LANGUAGE, MATH, and INDEPENDENT FUNCTIONING & SKILLS.
Even as they are in one classroom, the Pre-School and Kinder students have separate programs: The Preschool program emphasizes language, socialization and number skills; while the Kinder program prepares the child for broader academic activities with emphasis on language and mathematics.
ELEMENTARY
The Montessori philosophy in elementary education emphasizes independent schoolwork to instill self-reliance and responsible freedom in the child. Classes are conducted in mixed-age groupings of six- to nine-year olds, and nine- to 12-year olds, although lessons are presented in small groups and cover a broad scope.
Elementary-age children tend to ask HOW and WHY. At Montessori, we use constructive imagination to enrich real-life experiences. Both academic and non-academic activities encourage the child to explore the environment outside of the classroom, a method that is central to a Montessori elementary education.
