July 22, 2017 (Saturday) – The Junior High School department held their 2nd Going out at Assumpta Theatre in Assumption Antipolo. We watched the musical play Ambon, Ulan, Baha, an award-winning environmental musical. It is a play by Frank G. Rivera, directed by Nina V. Manalo and in line with the topic “Man and the Earth He Lives In”.
The play contained good lighting and sound effects that would definitely make one feel that one was really in the forest, which was the play’s setting. There were some funny scenes to which we could all relate. The characters played their role very well even though most of them used a microphone and some of the lapel mikes did not work. While the play was ongoing, a power interruption happened, causing delays and problem.
Ambon, Ulan, Baha pointed out environmental problems, mainly illegal logging or deforestation. The play also showed the love story of Inday and Nonoy and how environmental concerns affected their lives. It highlighted Filipino values, traditions, and culture too.
Overall, the flow of the story was fine. The play turned out well and had a good ending. It gave moral lessons to every citizen, one of which was that one should always think before doing anything. After all, one may never know what its impact could be on society, especially acts that could probably affect the environment. It really was a great show!
