War is difficult to define. Some refer to it as the only way to gain real peace. It is obvious that war hurts everyone. However, even though the enemies are the enemies of the state, we are still children of God.
Marawi City was full of kind hearted people. It was a place where terror rarely sees daylight but nowadays, that city is more of a death zone, a place where terror and fear strike in every corner.
Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is the only president I know who hated criminality to the point of erasing the word itself from the dictionary. He declared Martial law throughout Mindanao and I believe it is essential. No Filipino loves fighting for our country more than our brave soldiers. They are the only people who are willing to be loyal and risk their lives for other people’s well-being.
According to professionals, at least one Filipino soldier dies every single day, killed by their own brothers who are both lost and extreme. My father tells me that death is the only way to absolute freedom. Death never brings you to darkness but it rather takes you to the bright light that makes your eyes open instead of closing. Soldiers in Marawi simply do what is needed, and that’s the sad part right there. You are going to war with these people then you ask yourself “Aren’t they my brothers too?”
I have never experienced war before and hopefully I won’t experience it in my whole lifetime because I know that one shell can and will always kill the world. I do know this, fighting will only bring you begging to go home. It will never help you all the way but saving your enemies from corrupted minds will bring you all the way.
The soldiers in Marawi fight not for their lives, but for ours. Would we do the same for them? When you watch DC and MARVEL movies, you always say “Hey! He’s my favourite super hero!” but they are not real heroes. The ones dying for YOUR lives are the real heroes! Helping our soldiers is not enough. We need to stand as one, accepting the truth of Martial law. It’s the best option than you can possibly imagine. Let it be a solution. Finally, let us all be united not as a country, not as one, BUT AS A FAMILY.
