The Infancy class is based on Maria Montessori’s concept of the Absorbent Mind. From 0 till 3 years, the child’s unconscious absorbent mind soaks up qualities from the environment. The child is particularly sensitive to the acquisition of language, movement, sensorial exploration and order during this time. The Infancy class helps stimulate development by giving activities to help infants acquire speech and language, balance in walking, sitting and standing, awareness of colors, sounds and shapes, and order through a routine.
The Infancy classes last for 10 sessions, or 1 cycle. A child and one caregiver together attend 2 ½ hour classes twice a week, for 10 weeks. A maximum of 4 infants (and their caregivers) make up one class. The pace is easygoing, and parents may opt to enroll their infant for 1 cycle, or re-enroll for subsequent cycles.
