Last November 25,2015, the Grade 9 students visited several universities like UA&P, UE and TIP. This activity was held to expand the knowledge of our grade 9 students about the K to 12 program and to allow them to explore different university options.
The first stop was UA&P or the University of Asia and the Pacific. The Grade 9 students were welcomed by two sophomore students of the university, namely, Sameer Jadwani and Joe Biscocho. The students were given the “talk”, where the representatives introduced their university. They also tackled the different courses the university offers. UA&P is known for their business-related courses and most of their graduates are successful businessmen today. Some of the students were given a chance to tour around the campus but some of them, due to the lack of time, were not able to look around.
Next stop was the University of the East or UE. The Grade 9 students were toured around the campus and, at the same time, were oriented about the school’s offer for senior high school. UE is known for their library which is the largest among the universities.
Last but not the least was the Technical Institute of the Philippines or TIP. The students were briefed on what the school offers, which is the academic track. They were also given more information about the differences between each strand in senior high school. After their introduction, the students were toured around the campus, from their libraries to their ice plant section.
The objective of the activity was to help students choose their options for senior high school, and I guess that this campus tour gave them an idea already.
